Depending on the type of course selected will determine a great deal as to the type of specific activities and locations that one will experience while at an Outward Bound outdoor camp.  There are however a few commonalities that exist between all of our courses, but even then the instructor will determine what is appropriate based on the skill level of the group and other factors such as weather and terrain.

For most of our outdoor camps each student is required to bring only the required footwear and clothes that the course necessitates.  All other equipment, including food, will be provided for each student.  They will receive all of their gear when they arrive at the base camp nearest the course location.  Here, they will meet the rest of their group as well as their instructors and will begin learning important skills they will need for their journey.  Then it is off to the wilderness where they will spend the remainder of their course.

All of our students will learn valuable backcountry skills such as leave no trace techniques that they will most likely use later in life if they choose to return to the wilderness with friends or with family.  At the discretion of the instructors, each student may have the opportunity to lead the group for one or more activities.  This will really test the student and allow them to asses their own leadership strengths and weaknesses.  A solo experience is another facet of our outdoor camps that is contingent on the instructors decision.  At the end of the course the group will most likely take part in a service project that allows them to give back to society or their environment.
